French conversation (minimum A2 level): Understanding contemporary France with Eve Tournadre - Monday 17.00 - 18.00
Many of us have lived in France for a long time, but how much do we really know about ‘le système français’? The institutions and social structures, the political parties, big business, the unions, the media ... all combine to create a complex web that is often difficult for those of us not born here to decipher as we simply don’t have the background.
What are the challenges for France of the present day and the next few years? What is ‘la nature française’? How does Paris see the upcoming elections and other world events? And just how - to paraphrase De Gaulle - do you govern a country that has 365 varieties of cheese?
In this new French conversation class, Eve Tournadre will lead us through all this and more. If you’d like to understand more about the country you live in, if you’d like to be able to hold your own in discussions with French friends, or if you’re applying for French citizenship and want to prepare for your interview then this is very much for you! The discussions will cover a wide range of subjects over the weeks. You’ll need a minimum of A2 level French to participate.
